IBC Organized National Seminar On Infrastructure Development.

Agartala, Tripura, 19th of July 2025 : With the initiative of IBC, Indian Buildings Congress a grand National seminar on infrastructure development in North East region of India cum 109th Governing Council Meeting of IBC has been organized here in Pragna Bhawan, P.N Complex in Agartala today. In presence of many distinguished dignitaries this mega motivational programme was inaugurated by CM Prof. Dr. Manik Saha. Aiming the infrastructure development vision for the state of Tripura forest minister Animesh Debbarma has placed an important demand over an innovative prospective which will bring most convenient circumference for the development sectors of the state of Tripura. As per his vision, the potential of connecting Tripura (JaharNagar), NE state of India to South Asia through the Trans-Asian Railway Network to Thailand – Bangkok is an innovative initiative for the better future of the state. Making Tripura an economic gateway to Southeast Asia.

According to his route proposal, Tripura (JaharNagar) railway station to Mizoram (Kolashib District) to Darlon, Myanmar (West). approximate Length is 315 km to connect with the existing meter gauge (MG) railway line that was utilized during World War II, which is now abandoned in Darlon, Myanmar.

Thus, Tripura may be connected with the Trans-Asian Railway Network. The Trans-Asian Railway Network covers 81,000 km of rail links, including 23,000 km in South Asia, Iran, and Turkey. Therefore, Tripura has the potential to be a gateway to Southeast Asian countries.

This project is not just a railway initiative; it represents an opportunity to unlock immense economic potential for Tripura, in line with the NE Indian Government’s Act East Policy. It aims to foster collaboration among stakeholders, including the Indian Building Congress (IBC), to explore ways to turn this vision into reality. If the state government concentrate over the proposal and convince the concerned central authority then the desired vision may appear into reality which will be a greater achievement & boon for the people of the state.
