Agartala, Tripura, 12th of September, 2025 : ICFRE-Livelihood Extension Centre (a Unit under ICFRE-RFRI, Jorhat, Assam), Hatipara Forest Complex, Gandhigram, Agartala (Tripura) successfully organized day-long Tree Growers’ Mela on 12th September, 2025 at the Tripura State Forest Academy playground where more than three hundred Participants from different parts of Tripura attended. The Participants included Farmers, Tree Growers, NGO and SHG members, Students, Government Officials, Civil Society members etc. The Tree Growers’ Mela was inaugurated by Sri Jitendra Majumder, Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Tripura who in his inaugural address spoke about wide range of issues faced by the State of Tripura. He appealed to the Participants not only to grow more plants but also to take care of already planted plants. The inaugural Session was also graced by Dr. Abhinav Kant, Director, BCDI, Agartala; Smt. Paushali Roy, IFS, Director, TSFA, Agartala; Sri Prasada Rao V., IFS, Director (Livelihood) Tripura JICA and Sri R. K. Kalita, Head, ICFRE-LEC.

A product of long-time research of the Centre, i.e. Biochar Super Compost was released at the function. Sri Ajoy Debbarma who was the principal investigator spoke about the product. Another Four extension Pamphlets were also released. Sri Ajoy Debbarma, Scientist, ICFRE-LEC, Agartala offered vote of thanks.
An Exhibition installed on the occasion of the Tree Growers’ Fair was also inaugurated by the Hon’ble Member of Legislative Assembly, Tripura. He interacted with the Artisans and Entrepreneurs, and inspired them about their endeavor to excel more. He advised them to brand their products and to sell outside for better profit.

A Farmers’-Scientist interaction was also held where live demonstration on Vermicomposting was given by Sri Niren Das, Chief Technical Officer. Sri R. K. Kalita, Head and Sri Ajoy Debbarma imparted training on livelihood opportunities and options in the state of Tripura.
