IIM Nagpur Celebrates 78th Independence Day With Pride & Enthusiasm.

Nagpur, 15th of August, 2024 : IIM Nagpur celebrated the 78th Independence Day of India with ample funfair, enthusiasm, and total commitment to further reignite the spirit of patriotism on this national celebration festival. Dr.Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur, hoisted the flag in the presence of all Faculty members and Staff on this occasion and congratulated everybody.

Dr.Metri spoke about how India has been shaped into a modern, fast-growing nation coming into the league of countries recognized and admired globally. He mentioned a cursory description of the stages of growth in the last seven decades, citing examples such as the Green Revolution, the IT boom, and the recent Space Missions to name a few. The country has witnessed several historic transformations in the past few decades in various sectors that paved the way for the country to emerge into the world’s robust economy, which is on the path to constant progress.

He also mentioned that, though defying several challenges, the country is on the path to progress; there are still some gaps between the urban-rural and digital divides, and several other factors need to be addressed. The country reached this stage of success due to the efforts and sacrifices of several visionary leaders. While the country is growing faster, its states have exceptional roles in giving its economy a new insight, he added.

Mentioning the journey of IIM Nagpur, which will complete its first decade in 2025, Dr.Metri mentioned that the home state of IIM Nagpur, Maharashtra, is an Industrialised state. The Institute is strategically located in a place that connects to the country smoothly and takes pride in its innumerable achievements in the last 9 years.The Institute remains the first one to set up an AI R&D Centre in collaboration with the Maharashtra state, where theFaculty and Students are actively involved in cutting-edge research and development.

In concluding remarks, Dr.Metri said that ‘purpose over purpose is important as much as celebrating success’ by considering consistency. As a fast-growing IIM amongst all IIMs, IIM Nagpur successfully completed the 4th year of NEP implementation, which redefined the concept of education.

The IIM Nagpur fraternity, including faculty members, staff, their families, and students, enjoyed the cultural programs themed on Independence Day. The cultural programs included spectacular dance performances, especially Classical Dance Performance, Poetry Recitation, Patriotic Songs, Drama, and performances by children. The program ended with joy, enthusiasm, and a spirit of patriotism, with the audience participating in the performances and expressing their love for the country.
