Dharmanagar Tripura, 25th of January, 2026 : The inauguration ceremony of the newly constructed Gouri Shekhar Roy Indoor Sports Hall was held at the BBI Complex in Dharmanagar under the initiative of the Department of Education, Youth Affairs and Sports. The programme was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri Tinku Roy, who attended as the chief guest.Among those present at the inauguration were Bhavatosh Das, Vice-Chairman of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad; Chandni Chandran, District Magistrate of North Tripura; Abhinash Rai, Superintendent of Police; eminent social worker Shyamal Nath; Aparna Nath, Chairperson of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad; along with officials of the Sports Department and other distinguished personalities.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Tinku Roy said that the indoor sports hall would further strengthen the sports infrastructure of North Tripura district and encourage the youth to actively participate in sports. He expressed optimism that in the future, this centre would produce sportspersons who would represent the state at national and international levels.After the inauguration, during a press conference, the guests also highlighted various future plans and initiatives related to the development of sports in the state.
