Letter From PM Narendra Modi Received By National Awardee Science Teacher Anjan Banik In Commemoration Of PM’s Historic Democratic Milestone Of Becoming India’s Longest-Serving Continuously Elected Prime Minister.

Agartala, Tripura, 11th of July, 2026 : National Award-winning Science Teacher, Science Communicator and Educational Researcher Shri Anjan Banik of Agartala, Tripura, has received a commemorative letter from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, acknowledging his warm greetings on the historic occasion of the Prime Minister becoming India’s longest-serving continuously elected Prime Minister. The letter, issued from the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi, bears the date 02 July 2026 and was delivered to Shri Banik through India Post Speed Post (ED025495761IN) on the afternoon of 09 July 2026. The communication marks another memorable interaction between the Prime Minister and the nationally acclaimed science educator and researcher, recognizing his thoughtful wishes and reaffirming the shared vision of nation-building through education, scientific temperament and public participation.
The communication commemorates a significant constitutional and democratic milestone in the history of the Republic of India.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has completed 4,399 consecutive days in office as an elected Prime Minister, thereby surpassing Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s post-election continuous tenure of 4,398 days. According to official records and widely reported public milestones, Shri Narendra Modi has now achieved several historic distinctions. He holds India’s Highest Unbroken Elected Tenure as Prime Minister (4,399+ consecutive days), becoming the first Prime Minister to cross this landmark through uninterrupted electoral mandates. He is also the longest-serving Non-Congress Prime Minister in Indian history and the first Prime Minister in the twenty-first century to secure three consecutive majority mandates in the Lok Sabha. When his tenure as the elected Chief Minister of Gujarat is combined with his service as Prime Minister of India, Shri Modi has completed nearly twenty-four years of continuous elected executive leadership, making him one of the longest-serving elected executives in the country’s democratic history. The official comparative data of continuous elected service places Narendra Modi at 4,399 days, followed by Jawaharlal Nehru (4,398 days), Indira Gandhi (4,078 days), Dr. Manmohan Singh (3,657 days), Atal Bihari Vajpayee (2,257 days) and Rajiv Gandhi (1,859 days). While Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru continues to remain India’s longest-serving Prime Minister in terms of overall tenure from 15 August 1947 to 27 May 1964, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has now established the record for the longest uninterrupted post-election continuous tenure in the office of the Prime Minister. This historic achievement symbolizes the continuity of democratic mandate, constitutional stability and the enduring confidence reposed by the people of India in the nation’s democratic institutions. Anjan Banik in his reaction also discussed his proud feeling in this regard of achievement of most respected Prime Minister of India. Such letter from Prime Minister of India is rarely and hopefully only served to Anjan Banik in the State of its kind so far reported till date.


Shri Anjan Banik is widely recognized as one of India’s distinguished science teachers and science communicators, science writer author. He is presently serving as an Assistant Science Teacher of Tripura, under the Directorate of Secondary Education, Government of Tripura. He is the recipient of the prestigious National Award for Science and Technology Communication (2022–23) conferred by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department – Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, carrying one of the highest prize amounts of ₹2 lakh in the category and he is the only and ever first recipient of this national award belongs to State Tripura even only from Northeastern India and even from East India also. Shri Banik has earned national recognition for promoting scientific temper among school students beyond the boundaries of State Tripura and Northeast region at National level Kashmir to Kanya Kumari, Agartala or Arunachal to Ahmedabad, Puduchery to Panjab, Chennai to chandigarh through science communication, innovative pedagogy, metacognitive educational research and teacher education. His science educational research works and educational innovations have been acknowledged by premier institutions including CSIR–National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR), Vigyan Prasar, Department of Science and Technology, ISRO, NCERT New Delhi, Regional Institutes of Education at Ajmer, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Mysuru and Shillong, besides his participation in the India International Science Festival (IISF) at Kolkata being Guest Presenter on Tripura’s contribution to Indian science movements and also India International Science Festival (IISF) at Chandigarh and numerous national and international seminars, conferences and workshops. Recently Anjan Banik in association of Chaya Prakashani of Kolkata, which is a concern of big text book publishing house S Chand group, has been authored the school science books developed by NCERT for students of class seven and class eight emphasising on Competency based education and new age Analysis and Evaluation Application cognitive level-oriented science studying opportunities. Anjan Banik has been selected as the National Mentor Resource Person for Science Education under National Mission for Mentoring of National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) of Ministry of Education Govt of India.

The latest communication from the Prime Minister assumes special significance as it represents the fifth commemorative letter received by Shri Anjan Banik from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Prime Minister of India. The series of letters reflects Shri Banik’s continued engagement with nationally significant developments and his consistent efforts in promoting science education, educational research and scientific awareness across the country as his suggestion has been adopted also by the concern policy developers. Following his conferment of the prestigious NCSTC National Award for Science and Technology Communication on National Science Day 2023, Shri Banik has continued contributing to national science communication programmes, teacher capacity building and research-based educational reforms benefiting aspiring science students and future scientists throughout India by continuously conducting “India International Sarabhai Student Scientist Award” Mega event and ever first digitization of traditional culture for scientific temperament oriented mega event “Sir J C Bose International Science Math Puppetry Film Festival” for last 8 years.

In his personally signed communication dated 02 July 2026, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude for Shri Banik’s congratulatory message and acknowledged the affection conveyed through it. In his personally signed letter, The Prime Minister describes his journey being prime minister as: “privilege to have been blessed with the opportunity to serve Maa Bharati with devotion.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that the historic milestone belongs not to an individual but to India’s vibrant democratic traditions and the immense trust reposed in him by the people of the country. He further wrote: “This moment is a symbol of the abiding strength of India’s democratic traditions. It reflects the trust and blessings of 140 crore Indians. In honour of their invaluable faith reposed in me, I reaffirm that each moment of my life and every effort of mine will always remain dedicated to the nation.”
Reflecting upon the transformative journey of the last twelve years, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the collective achievements made possible through the participation and aspirations of the people of India. He observed: “Over the past 12 years, we have worked together to take India to new heights. Basic facilities such as bank accounts, housing, toilets, electricity, gas and clean drinking water have reached crores of families. India has made remarkable progress across diverse sectors, from financial inclusion and welfare initiatives for the underprivileged to unprecedented advances in infrastructure and digital transformation. Today, India stands with greater confidence on the global stage and is emerging as a hub for investment, innovation and growth.”


The Prime Minister further acknowledged that these accomplishments belong collectively to every Indian citizen and appreciated the role played by different sections of society in the nation’s development. He wrote: “These achievements are an outcome of our collective strength, trust and resolve. Our aspirational youth, women, farmers, entrepreneurs and the middle class are the pillars of this transformation. The trust and support with which our citizens have driven the nation’s journey of progress is our greatest strength. India is now emerging as a nation that not only addresses its own challenges but also creates new possibilities and sets new benchmarks for the world.”


Looking towards the future, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi reaffirmed his commitment to reforms, innovation, good governance and public participation in realizing the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. Expressing confidence in the contribution of committed citizens like Shri Banik, the Prime Minister stated: “In the coming years, the pace of development is set to accelerate even more. To realise this vision, we will continue to strengthen reforms, good governance, innovation and public participation. I am confident that with collective effort, we will achieve the goal of building Viksit Bharat by 2047 and your contribution will be significant in this endeavour.” Concluding the letter with warmth and goodwill, the Prime Minister wrote: “My best wishes for your good health, happiness and continued success.”

Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the Prime Minister’s communication, Shri Anjan Banik described the letter as an invaluable source of encouragement for every Science teacher, Science Communicator, Science reference book author dedicated to nation-building through education. He stated that the Prime Minister’s words reinforce his commitment to continue working for science communication, educational research, teacher empowerment and the promotion of scientific temper among young learners. He reiterated that he would continue contributing towards the national mission of Viksit Bharat 2047 by encouraging inquiry-based science education, innovative teaching methodologies and evidence-based educational practices in different way.

He significantly pointed out that the commemorative communication from the Prime Minister through his letters, beyond MAAN KI BAAT on Akashbani (All India Radio) is expected to inspire him as educator and science communicator, and also through him inspire students, researchers and the wider academic community of nation as well northeast specifically State Tripura. It symbolizes the constructive dialogue between the nation’s leadership and grassroots educator who remain dedicated as a citizen to nurturing scientific thinking.
