Mumbai, Maharashtra, 8th of September, 2026 : Literacy is no longer limited to the ability to read and write. Understanding one’s rights, being aware of essential documents, and making the right decision at the right time are equally important aspects of literacy. For farmers in particular, awareness is directly linked to their land, livelihood and future.

Taking this thought forward, Khawda 4C Power Transmission Limited is working towards empowering farmers associated with its project by providing them with information about the land compensation process, ownership records, essential documents and transmission infrastructure. The Pot Hissa Survey conducted in Bhiwandi taluka is a strong example of this approach.

With the support of TILR and SDM Bhiwandi, mapping was completed for 105 out of 115 survey numbers across 15 of 16 villages in just three days. This helped facilitate the compensation process based on verified ownership records.

Ninad Pitle, Senior Vice President & Group Head – Corporate Affairs, Khawda 4C Power Transmission Limited, says, “Literacy is not limited to reading and writing. Understanding the processes related to one’s rights, responsibilities and livelihood is equally important. An aware farmer is an empowered farmer. Continuous dialogue and access to the right information help dispel misconceptions and enable communities to participate in the development process with greater trust and confidence.”
