Agartala, Tripura, 3rd of July, 2026 : With the initiative of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Department Government of Tripura organized third State-Level Mango Festival at Narikelkunja on Thursday (2nd July, 2026).

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath was inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial Lamp.
The state’s Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Ratan Lal Nath, inaugurated the third state-level Mango Festival yesterday at the helipad ground in Narikelkunja, Gandacherra. Inaugurating the day-long Mango Festival by watering a sapling. Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that India ranks first in the world in mango production. The average mango yield in the country is 9.5 metric tonnes per hectare, while in Gandacherra the average yield is around 9 metric tonnes per hectare. Mango is currently cultivated on 10,000 hectares of land across the state, of which 3,000 hectares are under mango cultivation in Gandacherra alone. He further stated that the state government has undertaken a multi-pronged programme aimed at increasing the income of mango growers.
As part of this initiative, a cold chamber was inaugurated here yesterday, where fruits can be stored for 10-12 ds before being marketed. Notably, the Agriculture Minister formally inaugurated this cold chamber yesterday.

The Agriculture Minister said that cosmetics and high-quality fibre can be produced from Tripura’s Queen pineapple. At the same time, foreign exchange is being earned through the export of Queen pineapple to various countries around the world. He noted that multi-pronged plans have been drawn up to increase the production of fruits such as pineapple and mango in Tripura in the future. He informed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) is being prepared for generating 11 MW of hydroelectric power using the water of the Dumbur reservoir. He appealed to everyone not to leave fallow land unused and instead take up the cultivation of turmeric, ginger, and fruits.
Speaking at the event, MLA Nandita Debbarma (Reang) said that the present state government is working for the development of people from all sections of society. Former MP Rebati Mohan Tripura also addressed the gathering. The event was presided over by Pradip Kumar Jamatia, Chairman of the Raishyabari, Block Advisory Committee. On the occasion of the fair, 35 exhibition stalls were set up. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Phanibhushan Jamatia, Director of the Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department.
