MLA Inaugurates An Affordable Medicine Centre.

Khowai, Tripura, 18th of September, 2026 : A new healthcare initiative has been launched in Chebri as part of the celebrations marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday.

A new ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra’ has been opened at the Chebri Primary Health Centre in Khowai district to ensure the availability of life-saving medicines at lower prices for the general public.

MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury officially inaugurated the centre by cutting the ribbon on Thursday (17th September, 2026).

The newly opened Janaushadhi Kendra will enable local residents to purchase quality generic medicines at much lower prices than those available in the market. The MLA said the initiative will provide significant relief to poor and middle-class families in rural areas by helping reduce their medical expenses.

MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury said that the cost of medicines often becomes a major financial burden for ordinary people seeking treatment. He stressed the importance of making essential medicines available to people at affordable prices. He also expressed hope that the opening of this centre in Chebri would directly benefit a large number of people in the area.

The inauguration was marked by an atmosphere of enthusiasm among those present. Local residents expressed hope that the Janaushadhi Kendra would not only make essential medicines more easily accessible but also significantly reduce the financial burden of medical treatment.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Chebri Primary Health Centre Chairman Uttam Adhikari, Social activist Nitai Bal, Dr. Ranjit Debbarma, Dr. Manojit Debbarma, and many others remained present in the event.
