Agartala, Tripura, 12th of April 2025 : With the initiative of Indian Institute of Information Technology, Agartala the combined 2nd and 3rd Convocation organized at Viavarvaraya Auditorium, NIT Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (12th April, 2025) (11.00 am. onwards).
Prof. (Dr.) Gautam Barua, Former Director, IIT Guwahati and IIIT Guwahati, was present as the Chief Guest of the function and deliver the Convocation Address. Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Patra, Director, NIT Agartala and IIIT Guwahati, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour.
Lt Gen. Mr. Himalaya Singh, Retd., Chairman, Board of Governors, IIIT Agartala presided over the function. Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Kumar, Director, IIIT Agartalt awarded the degrees to the students.
In this convocation ceremony, 15 B. Tech students in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) got their degrees for the Academic Year 2022-23. Besides this, 18 B. Tech students in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) got their degrees for the Academic Year 2023-24.
The IIIT Agartala was established as a PPP (Public-Private Partnership) Model in accordance with the IIIT Act passed by the Ministry of Education in 2017. ONGC and NEEPCO are the Industry partners. The IIIT Agartala has been conferred with the ‘Institute of National Importance’ by the Hon’ble Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.
The Institute is currently functioning from NIT Agartala campus since 2018. As of today, IIIT Agartala offers B. Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering. The students in the UG programme are being admitted through JEE (main) Examination and JoSAA/CSAB.
The first batch of students passed out in the academic session 2021-22 with a placement record of 100%. The placement record is 87% for the Academic Year 2022-23. Students have received offers from different companies and organizations in the Academic Session 2022-23 and 2023-24. The companies/organizations are lotronix (Delhi), WNS (Holdings) Ltd., Publicis Sapient, Amazon, CGI, LYBL, Sigmoid, CogoPort, One24 Strand life Science, Teachnook, Zscaler, Juspay, Deloitte, MuSigma and Traqo-Myways.
Students of IIIT Agartala have undergone internships in various reputed organizations. To name a few, Google, Hire-Cream (New Delhi), ABV-IIITM (Gwalior), Innovative Knowledge,
Software Solution, The Sparks Foundation, Data Sutram(Kolkata), Verzeo (Bengaluru), Stripkart (Jaipur), GoAppti, (Mumbai), Sigma Technologies, Vmware, Upstox, Infra.market, Vassar Labs, Branch International, Rapido and so on.
IIIT Agartala conducts various awareness programs and other activities throughout the year along with NIT Agartala. Some of these are Yoga Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Rashtriya Ekta Divas, National Science Day, Hindi Saptah, Study Connect Program, etc.
The Institute is functioning well in the areas of Academics, Placement Activities and Academics-Industry Interface and many more. The much-awaited convocation ceremony is our promise to quality education that has imparted to the 2023 and 2024 graduates. The Chairman of the organizing Committee, Prof. (Dr.) Abhay Kumar, Director, IIIT Agartala, Col. (Dr.) Ashish Badola, Mentor Registrar, IIIT Agartala and Convenor, Prof (Dr.) Rajib Saha, Dean (AA), NIT Agartala have taken enthusiastic efforts to make this event a grand success.
