North Tripura Aapda Mitra Volunteers Trained To Strengthen Disaster Preparedness.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 13th of June 2026 : The closing ceremony of a three-day residential refresher training programme organized by the North Tripura District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) was held on Thursday at the Regional Centre for People’s Empowerment (RCPE) in Panisagar Sub-Division.

The training programme, which began on June 9, concluded on June 11.The primary objective of the programme was to further strengthen the capabilities of Aapda Mitra volunteers in disaster preparedness, emergency response, and community resilience building.The closing ceremony was graced by North Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Chandni Chandran as the Chief Guest. Other dignitaries present included the Deputy Collector and Magistrate of Panisagar Sub-Division, the Officer-in-Charge of RCPE, the District Programme Officer (Disaster Management) from the District Magistrate’s Office, and several other distinguished guests.

During the programme, speakers highlighted the crucial role played by volunteers in disaster management. They noted that Aapda Mitra volunteers serve as first responders at the local level during natural disasters such as floods, storms, and other emergencies. Therefore, regular training and skill enhancement are essential to ensure effective disaster response.Over the three-day training programme, participants received hands-on instruction in search and rescue operations, first aid, emergency communication systems, risk assessment, safe evacuation techniques, and post-disaster rehabilitation measures.

Certificates were distributed to all participants upon successful completion of the training.Officials from the District Disaster Management Authority stated that similar training programmes would continue in the future to further strengthen the skills of volunteers across the district, ensuring a rapid and effective response to any disaster situation at the community level.The successful completion of this three-day residential refresher training programme marks an important step toward enhancing disaster preparedness and public awareness in North Tripura District.
