Agartala, Tripura, 17th of September, 2026 : Jebika Tripura, a seventh-grade student staying at Anangamohini Girls’ Hostel, Supari Bagan, reportedly suffered severe injuries after falling from the roof of the hostel’s three-storey building. Following the incident, she was admitted to GB Hospital, where she remains under treatment.
A delegation of NSUI Tripura Pradesh visited the injured student at GB Hospital on Wednesday (15th September, 2026) following the direction of State President Amir Hossain. During the visit, the delegation interacted with her family members and gathered information about the incident and her current medical condition.
Jebika’s serious injury after falling from the hostel roof has raised significant concerns about student safety. The incident has also brought the functioning and safety arrangements of the hostel authorities under scrutiny.

The hostel authorities must be held responsible for the safety lapses that resulted in Jebika suffering serious injuries. We therefore request the state Education Department and the Hon’ble Education Minister, along with the concerned hostel authorities, to ensure adequate security and safety arrangements for students in every government and private girls’ hostel.
The Student Congress and NSUI Tripura Pradesh have called for immediate action to strengthen student safety in hostels. They said that if their demands are not addressed, the organisations will undertake a larger protest against the government and the concerned hostel authorities.
