Dharmanagar, Tripura, 2nd of March, 2026 : An online training programme was organized at the Fish Farmer Training Centre in Dharmanagar under the initiative of the Fisheries Department of North Tripura district,Government of India. The programme was conducted under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY), focusing on aquaculture insurance schemes for fish farmers.

The Sabhadhipati of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad, Aparna Nath, attended the event as the chief guest and inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp. The Deputy Director of Fisheries, North Tripura, along with other departmental officials, was also present on the occasion.During the online session, experts elaborated on various aspects of the aquaculture insurance scheme, including its importance, application procedures, premium details, and the rules for receiving compensation. They also highlighted how insurance coverage can help safeguard the financial stability of fish farmers in the event of natural disasters, diseases, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Participating fish farmers actively engaged in a live question-and-answer session, where they raised their queries and received necessary guidance from the concerned officials.
The organizers informed that similar online training programmes will be conducted in the future to create greater awareness among fish farmers in the district about the benefits of various government schemes.
