Mumbai, Maharashtra, 14th of July, 2026 : A memorable musical evening dedicated to the timeless legacy of the legendary “Mallika-e-Ghazal” Begum Akhtar, titled ‘Shaam-e-Akhtari’, will be held on July 18 at P. L. Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy (Ravindra Natya Mandir Mini Theatre), Prabhadevi, Mumbai.
The highlight of the evening will be a heartfelt performance by Padma Shri awardee and acclaimed vocalist Dr. Soma Ghosh, who will bring Begum Akhtar’s immortal ghazals to life with her soulful renditions and deep musical expression. For lovers of ghazals and Indian classical music, the event promises not only an enchanting musical experience but also a rare opportunity to reconnect with the rich heritage of India’s ghazal tradition.
Another major attraction of the programme will be the screening of a special film on the life, struggles, and extraordinary musical journey of Begum Akhtar, directed by renowned filmmaker Prof. Shubhankar Ghosh.
