The North district police again got success in anti-narcotics operation. The OC of Bagbasa out post conducted a raid in Kameshwar area with a team on the basis of tip-off by Wednesday evening. The police were able to arrest a notorious heroin dealer named Abhijit Nath from East Hurua Ward No. 6. After searching him, the police were able to recover three packets of prohibited heroin stored in three soap boxes from him.
Bhanupada Chakraborty, Superintendent Police of the North District, said that this success was achieved when the operation was carried out on the basis of secret information. He said, a total of forty-five grams of heroin was recovered from the arrested youth in three packets. The black market value of which is approximately Rs. 30 lakhs. He was taking the heroin to Kameshwar area for sale. The Superintendent of Police also said that the youth was also arrested in a drug case two years back. The police of the local police station have registered a case under NDPS and started investigation over the case. Police also said that the youth arrested on Thursday will be handed over soon to the Dharmanagar District sessions court for judgement.
