Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of March, 2026 : A grand Nath Literary and Cultural Conference is set to be held on March 12 in Dharmanagar, North Tripura, with the aim of promoting the literature and cultural heritage of the Nath community. In connection with the event, a press conference was organized on Monday (March 9) at the temporary office located at the residence of Raju Das on Mission Road in Dharmanagar.Present at the press conference were Pranab Kumar Nath, All India President of Nath Mission; Pranoy Nath, President of the Tripura State Committee; Vice-President Ajay Nath; Cultural Secretary Reshmi Nath; IT In-Charge Nirmal Nath; Assistant IT In-Charge Panchami Nath, along with other members of the organization.The organizers stated that the conference is being arranged with the objective of preserving the cultural heritage of the Nath community and encouraging literary activities and cultural awareness among the younger generation. They also informed that the Nath Mission Tripura State Committee, formed with the support of the Nath Mission Tripura Central Committee, will function as a welfare-oriented, religious, and social service organization and plans to expand its activities across the state in the future.According to the organizers, the organization was formally established in Tripura on January 25, 2026.

At present, it has offices in Dharmanagar and Halhali Bazar in Kamalpur. The primary objective of the organization is to strengthen the traditions, culture, and social unity of the Nath community while carrying out various social welfare activities.During the press conference, several proposals and demands were also raised for the socio-economic development of the Nath community. The organization demanded that at least 5–6 bighas of government (khas) land be allocated in every Gram Panchayat and Nagar Panchayat area, where a properly walled community space could be developed for the overall development of the Yogi community.They also demanded that the birth anniversary of Mahayogi Guru Gorakshanath be declared a government holiday by both the central and state governments.
Furthermore, they urged the formation of a separate Development Council for the Nath Yogi community in Tripura, similar to the model followed in Assam, along with adequate financial allocation. They also called for representation of the Nath community in various state government boards, corporations, and councils in proportion to their population, including appointments to positions such as Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and members.In the field of education, the organization demanded reservation of seats for students from the Nath Yogi community in medical, engineering, NEET, and central or state universities. They also called for special concessions in competitive examinations and the provision of monthly scholarships for students.
Additionally, they demanded the inclusion of Nath literature and philosophy in academic curricula and called for a separate population census to determine the accurate population of the community.It was also announced during the press conference that the program on March 12 will begin in the morning with flag hoisting by Pranoy Nath, President of Nath Mission Tripura State Committee and a noted educationist. This will be followed by garlanding of the portraits of Mahayogi Matsyendranath and Mahayogi Gorakshanath.Later, a colorful procession will march through the main roads of Dharmanagar town, which will be inaugurated by Prabhat Kumar Nath, President of the Central Committee of Nath Mission and former MLA from Assam.
In the second session, beginning at 11 AM, a stage dedicated to the memory of Yogisadhika Rani Moynamoti, Bimala Devi, and Tara Devi will be inaugurated. This will be followed by a discussion meeting titled “Nath Religion, Nath Literature and Culture—Past, Present and Future.”The discussion will be attended by Swami Shiva Nathji Maharaj, Mohant of Udia Kiarbak Math, as the chief guest. Special guests will include Swami Bhakti Nathji Maharaj, social worker and industrialist Ratan Debnath, writer Milan Dutta, President of Mahayogi Gorakshanath Yogashram Sangha Khagendra Nath, and Nihar Ranjan Nath, retired DSP of the Bangladesh Railway Department, along with several other distinguished personalities.The event will also feature yoga demonstrations, felicitation of distinguished personalities, distribution of prasad, and cultural performances. The organizers have appealed for cooperation from all sections of society to ensure the success of this grand event.
