Press Conference By Dharmanagar District Congress Alleging Attack On Congress Workers.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of June 2026 : The Dharmanagar District Congress organized a press conference on Wednesday (17th June, 2026) evening to strongly protest the alleged role of a CRPF Commandant during a Congress programme in Agartala.The press conference was held in connection with the Congress rally and procession organized in Agartala on June 15 over a five-point charter of demands, including the alleged NEET question paper leak.

According to district Congress leaders, during the peaceful rally and procession held on June 15, Congress workers and supporters were subjected to what they described as a brutal attack allegedly carried out under the instructions of a CRPF Commandant. They claimed that more than a hundred Congress workers were injured in the incident.The Congress leadership also alleged that objectionable remarks were made against women Congress workers who participated in the procession.

During the press conference, the district Congress demanded immediate legal action against the accused CRPF Commandant. The leaders urged the administration to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and bring those responsible under the ambit of the law.The leaders further stated that such attacks on democratic movements and peaceful protest programmes are contrary to democratic values. They also called upon the administration to take effective measures to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Dharmanagar District Congress President Nirupam Dey, Panisagar Block Congress President Sukendu Bhattacharjee, City Congress President Bidhan De, Dharmanagar District Youth Congress President Joydeep Nath, employees’ leader Dilip De, and Pradesh Mahila Congress General Secretary Shelly Sinha, along with other party leaders.
