
New Delhi, Delhi, 9th of August 2025 : The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today conveyed his greetings to the nation on the occasion of World Sanskrit Day, observed on Shravan Poornima. Calling Sanskrit “a timeless source of knowledge and expression”, the Prime Minister underlined its enduring influence across diverse fields.
Shri Modi appreciated the dedication of scholars, students, and enthusiasts across the world who continue to learn, teach, and popularise Sanskrit. He emphasised that over the past decade, the Government has undertaken a series of measures to strengthen Sanskrit learning and research, such as establishing Central Sanskrit Universities, opening Sanskrit Learning Centres, extending grants to Sanskrit scholars, and launching the Gyan Bharatam Mission for digitisation of manuscripts.
In a series of posts on X, the Prime Minister wrote;
““Today, on Shravan Poornima, we mark World Sanskrit Day. Sanskrit is a timeless source of knowledge and expression. Its impact can be found across sectors. This day is an occasion to appreciate the effort of every person around the world who is learning and popularising Sanskrit.”
