Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of June 2026 : A press conference was organized on Thursday at the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in Dharmanagar by the North Tripura District Health and Family Welfare Society to ensure the successful implementation of the Pulse Polio Programme 2026 on the occasion of the National Immunization Day on June 28.

The press conference was attended by Dr. Dipak Haldar, Chief Medical Officer of North Tripura District. He provided detailed information about various aspects of the programme and stated that the Health Department has taken special measures to ensure that every child in the district receives the polio vaccine.Dr. Haldar informed that North Tripura has a total population of 476,393 and 105,599 families. The number of children aged 0 to 5 years in the district is 45,772, all of whom will be covered under the programme.He further stated that a total of 458 vaccination booths have been set up across the district.
In addition, seven transit booths will be established to vaccinate children who are travelling. These transit booths will be located at Panisagar Motor Stand and Railway Station, Kanchanpur Motor Stand, Chamtila, Dharmanagar Railway Station, and Dharmanagar ISBT.To ensure the smooth implementation of the programme, 1,872 health workers and volunteers will be deployed throughout the district. Their activities will be supervised by 94 supervisors.The programme will commence on June 28, with the objective of reaching every eligible child in the district with the life-saving polio vaccine.
Appealing to parents and guardians, the Chief Medical Officer urged them to ensure that no child below the age of five is left out of the vaccination drive. He requested all parents to bring their children to the nearest vaccination booth on the scheduled day to receive the oral polio vaccine. He also sought the cooperation of the general public for the overall success of the programme.Dr. Haldar expressed hope that this government initiative would help the district move one step closer toward building a polio-free society.
