Agartala, Tripura, 9th of May, 2026 : With The Initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura organized Rabindra Jayanti at Rabindra Kanan, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (9th May, 2026). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home), OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma inaugurated the programme.
Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home), OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma and presents guest paid floral tributes to Rabindranath Tagore on his birth anniversary at Rabindra Kanan.
Addressing at the celebration ceremony Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Minister Santana Chakma said that Rabindranath Tagore was a man of extraordinary talent. She stated that he was not only a poet, but also a novelist, essayist, dramatist, patriot, philosopher, musician, storyteller, and painter. His immortal creations continue to touch the hearts of people.
The minister said that through his powerful writings, Rabindranath inspired the people of colonial India with patriotism. Opposing the Partition of Bengal, he introduced the Rakhibandhan festival to unite people. Therefore, the present generation should be inspired by the thoughts and ideals of Rabindranath Tagore and move forward by remembering his philosophy and values.
She also added that the state government has been making efforts to take the state forward in the ideals of Rabindranath Tagore, irrespective of caste, tribe, religion, or community.
On this auspicious occasion of artists presented attractive cultural programmes like dance, song, music to beautify the ceremony.
Director of the Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Bimbisar Bhattacharya, delivered a welcome address at celebration ceremony of Rabindra Jayanti. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Sampa Sarkar (Choudhury) Corporator of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC), renowned Rabindra Sangeet artiste Kaveri Gupta, many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event.
