Red Alert Issued: Heightened Alert In North Tripura Over Threat Of Extremely Heavy Rainfall.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of April 2026 : A state of high alert has been issued in North Tripura district the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Agartala, has declared a red alert for all districts of the state from April 29 to May 3, 2026. Authorities fear that the impact could be severe in North Tripura.

Particular concern has been raised for low-lying areas of Dharmanagar subdivision, where water levels may rise significantly. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the district administration has urged residents to remain vigilant.District Magistrate Chandni Chandra stated, “Based on the weather department’s forecast, we have already taken emergency preparedness measures. Surveillance has been intensified in low-lying areas, and teams are on standby to carry out immediate rescue and relief operations if necessary. People are advised to avoid going outside unnecessarily.”The administration has also issued several important guidelines:Stay indoors as much as possible

Avoid visiting rivers, streams, and waterlogged areas.Keep children and elderly persons in safe locations.Remain cautious during lightning and heavy rainfall.For any emergency, residents can contact the District Emergency Operation Center, which is functioning Helpline numbers: 1077, 03822-234349, 6033283651. The administration has assured that the situation is being monitored continuously and stricter measures will be taken if needed. Cooperation from local residents has been strongly requested.
