Agartala, Tripura, 17th of January, 2026 : On the occasion of Indian Army Day, the Red Shield Division of Indian Army conducted a series of community engagement activities across Tripura, Manipur and Upper Assam, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening military-civil relations and fostering goodwill with local communities.

The Indian Army organised a Weapons and Equipment Display at the Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), Agartala, with impressive display of modern weapons, surveillance systems and operational equipment used by the Indian Army. Students and faculty members actively interacted with the Army representatives and showed keen interest in understanding the technological advancements and operational preparedness of the Indian Army.

Similarly in Manipur at Andro Village, the Indian Army organised a friendly volleyball match with local youth. The Army also showcased Chenda drumming and Kalaripayattu. At Sanasabi Village, Imphal East, a community outreach programme titled ‘A Day with Soldiers’, featuring traditional games and interactive activities for villagers, especially youth and children. A Drone Flying Experience introduced participants to modern military technology, inspiring interest in science, innovation and defence services. Additionally, at Leilon Vaiphei Village, Kangpokpi District, a friendly football match was organised with local youth.

Similarly in Manipur at Molpheitampak Village in Bishnupur district, a friendly volleyball match was organised. Post-match, a “Know Your Army” interaction was organised wherein senior Army officers engaged with village youth and community members, sharing insights into the Army’s role, ethos and traditions, and highlighting opportunities for young aspirants.

Through these people-centric initiatives, the Indian Army celebrated Army Day by blending sports, culture and community interaction, reinforcing unity, peace and its enduring bond with the people of Tripura, Manipur and Upper Assam.
