Dharmanagar, Tripura, 3rd of May 2026 : A fresh theft at a Shiva temple located in the Shib Bari area of Dharmanagar town in North Tripura has sparked widespread concern. Notably, this temple had already been targeted three times earlier, with no trace of the culprit, leading to growing anger and anxiety among local residents.

On Friday night, the temple was once again robbed, further escalating tensions in the area. Immediately after the incident, members of the temple development committee reviewed CCTV footage. After identifying a suspect from the footage, members of the Dharmanagar Boys Club quickly sprang into action.
On Saturday morning, a joint search operation was launched across different parts of Dharmanagar town. After an extensive search, the alleged notorious thief was apprehended around 11:30 AM in front of Dharmanagar Central Drugs.Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Dharmanagar Boys Club premises for questioning. Initial interrogation reportedly revealed several important details.In connection with the incident, the Shib Bari Development Committee has lodged a written complaint at Dharmanagar Police Station.
The committee’s secretary, Mintu Kumar Gupta, said, “Despite repeated thefts, no solution was found earlier. However, this time, with the help of CCTV, we were able to identify the thief and take prompt action. We urge the administration to take strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future.”The incident has created a stir in the locality. Residents are demanding stronger security at the temple and regular police patrolling to avoid similar occurrences in the future.
