RUDSETI Empowers Rural Women Through Candle Making Training, Strengthening Livelihood Opportunities At Narsinghgarh.

Agartala, Tripura, 30th of January, 2026 : A comprehensive skill development and livelihood promotion programme on “Basics of Candle Making” was successfully organised by RUDSETI, Agartala at the Tripurashwari CLF Office, Narsinghgarh, under Bamutia RD Block, from 17 January to 30 January 2026. The training programme was conducted in close collaboration with Bamutia RD Block with the objective of creating sustainable non-farm livelihood opportunities, particularly for rural women and Self-Help Group (SHG) members.

A total of 33 participants, largely comprising women and SHG members from nearby villages, took part in the training. The programme witnessed high levels of enthusiasm, discipline, and active participation throughout the training days, reflecting the keen interest of village communities in skill-based income generation. The training focused on practical, hands-on learning, enabling participants to acquire technical knowledge and confidence in candle making as a viable livelihood option.

In addition to technical skills, RUDSETI imparted soft skills and entrepreneurship development sessions, equipping the trainees with essential knowledge on self-employment, business planning, and market-oriented thinking. The training sessions were conducted by a Master Trainer engaged by RUDSETI, Agartala, while the entire programme was efficiently coordinated by Ms. Rashmi Baidya, Senior Faculty, RUDSETI Agartala. All candidates were jointly mobilised by RUDSETI in collaboration with Bamutia RD Block, ensuring inclusive participation.

An external assessor evaluated the trainees, and upon successful completion, certificates were distributed during the valedictory ceremony. The closing programme was graced by Sri Amitabh Chakraborty, BDO, Bamutia RD Block, along with the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Bamutia Panchayat Samiti, Up-Pradhan of Nabagram, President of the CLF, and the Director of RUDSETI, whose presence added significance to the event. The cooperation and support extended by the BDO and Panchayat officials were widely appreciated.

Food and refreshments for the participants were provided by RUDSETI through local vendors, contributing to smooth conduct of the programme. Officials informed that the trained group will be guided by the Block administration for the formation of Producer Groups in non-farm livelihood activities, which is expected to bring positive change in income, employment, and overall quality of life of the beneficiaries.

The programme received an excellent response from participants throughout the training period and stands as a strong example of RUDSETI’s commitment to rural skill development, women empowerment, and livelihood enhancement in Tripura.
