Agartala, Tripura, 25th of December, 2025 : With the jointly initiative of West Tripura District administration, West Tripura and Youth Affairs and Sports Department Government of Tripura organized Sansad Khel Mahotsaav 2025 at Dasarath Deb State Sports complex, Badharghat, Agartala in Tripura on Thursday (25th December, 2025).
In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the Sansad Khel Mahotsaav 2025 by lighting the lamp. He also hoisted the flag of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav.
Address at the inaugural ceremony of Sansad Khel Mahotsaav 2025 Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that for the physical and mental well-being of the body and mind, it is necessary to be involved in sports. When people engage in sports, positive thinking and awareness develop within them. It helps in relieving mental stress. Therefore, every parent should encourage their children to be more actively involved in sports along with their studies.
Chief Minister added that on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Sansad Khel Mahotsav is being organized to connect boys and girls of every state with sports and to create opportunities for the development of their talents. To promote the mental development and patriotism of students and youth across the country, various initiatives have been undertaken, including 75 Border Villages – Kranti Veero Ke Naam, Pariksha Pe Charcha, and Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, among others.
Highlighting the occasion, the Chief Minister remarked that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav serves as a platform to involve children from every corner of the country in sports. As a result, children from villages and hilly areas will also get the opportunity to showcase their talent in the field of sports. The Chief Minister expressed hope that the Sansad Khel Mahotsav would play a significant role in reviving traditional sports of the country that the younger generation had almost forgotten and making them popular once again.
Addressing the programme, the chief guest Hon’ble MP and Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said that to improve the quality of life of every child, they must be associated with sports from an early age. Participation in sports helps develop a mindset to contribute positively to society.
In the welcome address, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Minister Tinku Roy said that the present Government is implementing various plans for the development of the sports sector in the state. At present, eight synthetic turf grounds and forty new grass fields have been constructed in the state. He also details on various projects being implemented to improve sports infrastructure.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi today interacted virtually with athletes from various states participating in the Sansad Khel Mahotsav from New Delhi and addressed them. Before the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister and the guests listened to the Prime Minister’s address. The Chief Minister and the guests paid floral tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder, Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta, West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector of Dr. Vishal Kumar, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Padma Shri awardee Dipa Karmakar, In-charge Sabhadhipati of West Tripura Zila Parishad Biswajit Shil and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the ceremony.
