Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of June, 2026 : On specific information of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF) secret operation was launched in Agartala Railway Station Monday (1st June, 2026). According to the sources, RPF & GRP, arrested one (1) drug peddlers from Agartala Railway Station and seized total 200 nos RT-REX cough syrup.
According to sources, at about 5 PM Railway Police catch one person namely Martanda Jyoti Datta (48), S/O- Lt. Kiriti Jyoti Datta of East Chandinamura, Bhati Abhoynagar, PS- West Agartala, West District, Tripura at Agartala Railway Station on platform no-01in front of Parking area in between RPF Post Agartala and pay & use toilet along with total 200 no’s bottle of suspected to be contraband narcotic RT-REX cough syrup in his pitthu bag.
Accordingly Railway Police have detained him and seized the contraband RT-REX.The value of this RT-REX cough syrup is Rs- 3 Lakh approx in black market. A specific case vide Agartala GRPS case no-2026 GRP038, U/S-21(C)/29 of NDPS Act-1985 has registered against him.
Interacted with media Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer in Charge Agartala Railway Police Station gave details about this today. OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
