Agartala, Tripura, 17th of August, 2026 : Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers celebrated the 80th anniversary of the country’s Independence Day at ‘Swarnagram’, Warengbari on Saturday (15th August 2026).
‘Swarnagram’ is an initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers that is dedicated to showcase Warengbari, in Gomati district, as a model village project.
And ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ is a residential school project of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers that has been adopted – in collaboration with Glory Academy, Warengbari – to add to existing facilities and amenities for resident students, provide proper nutrition and study material, organise dedicated teachers, sports instructors and scholarships for meritorious students.

The ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ calendar of events include special festive occasions and days of national importance – which are celebrated to instil culture consciousness and national pride in the minds and hearts of the school children.
And the 80th anniversary of the country’s ‘Independence Day’ was celebrated in ‘Swarnagram’ – in the true spirit of the joyous day which is all about freedom and liberty and all the responsibility that comes with it.
The programme of the day began with hoisting of the national flag and singing of the national anthem ‘Jana Gana Mana’ & national song ‘Vande Mataram’. Then the celebration was followed by demonstration of yoga and other self development exercises – and much song and dance about the Reang tribal community – by the ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ school children.
The celebration of the day included presentation of sweets and gift-hampers to these young Indians-in-the-making – adding to the environment of gaiety and cheer.
Additionally, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers presented a cheque of Rs 1,00,000/- as periodic contribution for developmental work in ‘Swarnagram’ and the ‘Shikshalaya’.
Mr Amit Porwal, award winning designer from Mumbai, was the special guest for the day.
The glow in the eyes of the school children – and their parents and other ‘Swarnagram’ village folk – reflected all the glee in their hearts.
“I am really overjoyed to be here in ‘Swarnagram’ – which is such a wonderful initiative of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers – and also to be a part of this memorable celebration of Independence Day in this remote corner of the country”, said Mr Amit Porwal.
“‘Swarnagram’, for us, is a very special project that started as a dream seventeen years ago”, said Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, “And, today, that dream has been realised to a large extent – thanks to the patronage of concerned government departments, support of Ramakrishna Mission & Bharat Sevashram, contribution of associates and, most importantly, response of the people of ‘Swarnagram’ and encouragement of our friends and well-wishers – specially from the news media”.
“However, much work remains to be done”, he further added, “And the celebration of the ‘Swarnagram Shikshalaya’ calendar of events – like ‘Happy Independence Day’ – is a move in the direction of developing youth power in this model village of ‘Swarnagram’.”
