Agartala, Tripura, 23rd of August, 2026 : Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers is presenting the Tripura Football Association organised ‘Chandra Memorial Football League’, at Umakanta Mini Stadium, from 28th August 2026.
Tripura Football Association, established in 1968, is a member of All India Football Federation (AIFF) and has three divisions, ie, A,B,C & one Womens division ,with 10, 10,18 & 8 member clubs respectively.
And Chandra Memorial Football League is a ‘A’ division league tournament with the 9 member-clubs vying for the coveted trophy.
The tournament is being presented as a tribute to Gour Chandra Saha, a man who – as a Former Vice President of Tripura Football Association – swore by football and TFA ; and whose name, as founder of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers, continues to support the game.
The curtain-raiser of Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers’ Chandra Memorial Football League 2026 was held at Agartala Press Club on Sunday, 23rd August, to share, with members of the news media, all that is scheduled to happen on the field and off it and to, together, kick-off this year’s tournament.
Captains, coaches and managers of all participating team were present in the event.
“It gives us great pleasure to announce this year’s league “, said Amit Choudhury, secretary of Tripura Football Association. He specially mentioned the role of Pranab Sarkar, President and Ratan Saha, Patron of Tripura Football Association, adding, “and, as always, we assure you of a tournament where football will be the winner.”
“Gour Chandra Saha, the founding father of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, was a former Vice President of Tripura Football Association and an active supporter of the game and all that it called for”, said Tapan Saha, assistant secretary, TFA, adding, “ and we have been presenting – in Gour Chandra name – many value-additions to take the tournament forward.”
“These value-additions include felicitation of the ‘Man Of The Match’, ‘Man Of The Tournament’, ‘Best Emerging Player’, ‘Best Referee’ and ‘Best Coach’ – with mementoes and cash prizes for all of them. One team will be presented FairPlay trophy with cash prizes for playing fair football”, said Rupak Saha, Director, Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers and son-in-law of Gour Chandra Saha.
