Agartala, Tripura, 12th of October, 2026 : Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, in association with the Sundarban Binodpur Shibom Society, presented a special Pre-Puja event at Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir—a primary school in a remote corner of the Sundarbans on Sunday (11th October, 2026). The event ushered in the festive season and added to the joy with the announcement of a new development.
“Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir,” a CSR initiative of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, is named after a person who, in her lifetime, was driven by the power of knowledge. She continues to inspire a legion of followers—people whose lives she touched—to keep furthering that cause.
The day’s programme began at an adjacent plot of land, where the foundation stone for the new school campus was laid.
This was followed by celebrations and rejoicing at the existing school premises. Adding to the gaiety, Puja gifts were distributed to the 435 school children, alongside saris for their mothers and other local women, capturing the true spirit of the festival.
Swami Satyakamananda-Ji Maharaj of the Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and blessed this new step forward. The glow on the faces of the school children and their mothers reflected the glee in their hearts.

“I am delighted to be a part of such a happy ushering in of the festive season amidst the underprivileged children of this primary school,” said Swami Satyakamananda-Ji Maharaj. He added, “I take this opportunity to congratulate the Sundarban Binodpur Shibom Society and Shyam Sundar Company Jewellers for the wonderful work they are doing here at Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir.”
Swami-ji further noted, “To see the smiles on the faces of mothers and children in these vulnerable pockets of the Sundarbans right before Durga Puja is a true reflection of Mother Durga’s grace. Education is the greatest tool for empowerment, and blessing the foundation stone for this new school campus aligns deeply with Swami Vivekananda’s vision of uplifting the marginalized masses.”
“Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir was established in 2024, and I take this opportunity to thank Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers for their constant support in making it happen,” said Dr. Dipankar Mondal, Secretary of the Sundarban Binodpur Shibom Society. He added, “I also appeal to everyone to come forward and contribute to the construction of the new campus and its mission to dispel darkness and spread the light of education in this remote corner of the Sundarbans.”
“Bela Saha, my dear departed mother, was deeply driven by the power of education. It inspired her to excel in her studies—first as a school topper, and later by going to college eighteen years after her marriage to complete her graduation with distinction,” said Rupak Saha, her son and Director of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers. He added, “Thereafter, she was always available to extend a helping hand to meritorious students pursuing higher studies. Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir is a dream project dedicated to her memory and driven by her zeal for education and empowerment. It gives us immense pleasure to inspect the site for the new campus and lay the foundation stone for its future.”
“Bela Saha was a mother figure to many beneficiaries of her love and affection, especially meritorious students,” said her daughter, Sucharita Roy. She added, “Being emotionally attached to this school named in her memory, we are deeply committed to ensuring that Bela Saha Smriti Vidya Mandir lives up to its name.”
The day’s programme concluded with a joyful community lunch, capturing the true spirit of breaking bread together.
