Sonamura, Tripura, 28th of May 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sonamura police, recovered and seized total 8 kg dry Cannabis (Ganja), at U.N.C. Nagar, Sonamura Police Station under Sepahijala District on Wednesday (27th May, 2026) night.

According to report, on a secret information late tonight, police recovered four black polythene-wrapped packets filled with Cannabis (Ganja) from a house in U.N.C. Nagar under Sonamura Police Station. The total weight of the seized contraband was approximately eight KG.
Following the recovery, a case under the NDPS Act was registered at Sonamura Police Station. Based on the investigation of the case, the owner of the house was arrested today. He will be produced before the Court today with a plea for appropriate police remand.
The accused is still being questioned at Sonamura Police Station by a special team of Sonamura Police. During preliminary interrogation, the names of several alleged drug smugglers from the area have surfaced. The police are currently verifying the information with the help of various state and central intelligence agencies.
Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station said that Sonamura police has started an investigation as to who could be the owner of these illegal seizes NDPS items.
OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
