Sonamura, 2nd of May 2026 : Sonamura police during patrolling duty recovered and seized total 7.5 kg dry Cannabis (Ganja) at Durgapur border road, Sonamura under Sepahijala District on Saturday (2nd May 2026) early morning.

According to sources, Sonamura Police Station recovered and seized total 7.5 Kg Dry Cannabis (Ganja) into 3 nos. packets as unclaimed. After that, it was seized following all legal formalities as unclaimed.
The destination market value of the seized ganja is approximately to be 1.5 Lakh only.

Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station said that Sonamura police has started an investigation as to who could be the owner of these illegal seizes ganja.
OC also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
