Sonamura, Tripura, 22nd of August, 2026 : A minor boy was detained while riding a bike during vehicle checking in front of Sonamura PS early this morning (22nd August, 2026), and the vehicle owner was fined ₹25,000 under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

According to Sonamura Police Today early morning , during vehicle checking in front of Sonamura PS a bike was detained which was being driven by a minor boy. Upon inquiry, it was found that he came to Sonamura after taking the key from his maternal uncle . In this context, when the owner of the bike was summoned, he was fined 25,000 rupees under the MV Act provisions, following all legal procedures, for handing over the key to a minor son to ride the bike and for encouraging him to ride it.
This week, four minor boys have been found riding motorcycles. Their guardians were subsequently called to the police station, and fines were imposed against them as per the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-in-Charge of Sonamura Police Station, interacted with the media and provided details about the matter. The OC also stated that such operations will continue in the coming days to prevent similar incidents and maintain law and order.
