Kamalpur, Tripura, 22nd of August, 2025 : On 20th August 2025, Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha) Government Degree College, Kamalpur Unit, conducted a special lecture on the topic, “5 years of NEP: Transforming Education, Empowering India, Reimagining Higher Education” with participation of the teaching faculty and students of the College. Dr Baburam Swami, Associate Professor in English, DDM College, Khowai was the lead speaker for the occasion.
The Program commenced with the felicitation of the dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the sacred lamp and offering flowers to Goddess Saraswati. The students also invoked the presence of the divine by Saraswati Vandana.
Dr Astamika Sinha, Assistant Professor & Sanyojak of GDC, Kamalpur Unit welcomed the dignitaries in her welcome address.
This is followed by the address of Dr Abhijit Sarkar, Principal of GDC, Kamalpur and the Special Guest of the Programme. Through his speech, he highlighted the importance of NEP 2020 and the value of education in molding the lives of future generations.
Shri Tirtharam Reang, President of ABRSM Tripura (Mahavidyalaya Shiksha) who remained present in the program as the Guest of Honor then emphasized the benefits and facilities provided to the student community with the introduction of NEP 2020 in his address. He also mentioned the contribution of ABRSM in the field of education in context with NEP 2020.
The Chief Guest of the event Dr. Subrata Sarkar, Principal-in-Charge, DIET, Kamalpur was the next speaker. He emphasized on various changes adopted by NCTE in Teacher Education with the introduction of NEP 2020 for the benefit of the students in his address.
This is followed by the speech of Dr Baburam Swami, Associate Professor in English, DDM College, Khowai who was the main resource person for the occasion. Through his lecture he gave an insight into the history of various education policies followed in India in the past and pointed out the significance of NEP 2020 in transforming educational landscape of the country in context of the requirements of the current times.
The entire lecture programmed was coordinated by Dr. Subal Chandra Das, EC Member of ABRSM. The special lecture was concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Shri Samuel Debbarma, Assistant Professor and Saha-Sanjojak of GDC, Kamalpur Unit and followed by the National Anthem. It was indeed an enriching day of learning for students as well as the teaching faculty.
