State level BELL OF AWARENESS Programme In Agartala.

Agartala, Tripura, 12th of August, 2025 : With the initiative of Tripura State AIDS Control Society, Health and Family Welfare Department Government of Tripura organized State level programme BELL OF AWARENESS programme on the occasion of International Youth Day in collaboration with the Directorate of Secondary Education Government of Tripura at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (12th August, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event.

Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha launched the ‘Bell of Awareness’, an AIDS awareness discussion group involving 2.31 lakh students studying in classes 8th to 12th simultaneously in 6,000 classrooms of 1,187 schools in the state.

Addressing at the State level BELL OF AWARENESS Programme Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to create a drug-free India, the State Government is pursuing a zero tolerance policy to make Tripura drug-free. But it is not possible for the Government or any department alone to create a drug-free and AIDS-free Tripura. In this regard, people from all sections of society must come forward to make them aware of the prevention of drug abuse and AIDS.

“The more preventive measures are consciously developed, the faster Tripura can be made a drug and AIDS-free State. In the case of drug addiction and HIV infection, one should always be careful. There is a link between the use of drugs and HIV infection. Students and parents should always be careful about drug users. It should be remembered that addiction comes from habit. The Government is trying to make Tripura an AIDS and drug addiction-free State.”, Chief Minister added.

Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked the State Government is working to raise awareness against drug addiction and AIDS by forming forums at the public representative level. The Chief Minister said that social surveillance will be very helpful in prevention. Currently 3,433 AIDS patients are being given Government allowance in the State. AIDS patients should also be monitored so that they are not humiliated and helped to lead a normal life. The Government has all kinds of medical services for AIDS patients in the State. People from all walks of life must be careful to keep the society free from HIV infection and drug addiction. At the event, paintings drawn by HIV-positive people were handed over to the Chief Minister.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department, Director of Health Services Dr. Tapan Majumder, School Education Department Director Nripendra Chandra Sharma, Deputy Medical Superintendent Dr Kanak Chowdhury, teachers, students, officials and may other distinguished dignitaries were present in the ceremony.

Project Director Tripura AIDS Control Society Project Director Dr. Binita Chakma,  delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of BELL OF AWARENESS Programme. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Deputy Directory of Tripura AIDS Control Society Project Dr. Sankha Subhra Debnath.
