With the initiative of Youth Affairs & Sports department, Government of Tripura observed on Tuesday (31st October, 2023) State level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) through different programmes in connection with to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The main programme of State level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was organized at Swami Vivekananda Ground, Agartala. In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath inaugurated the state level National Unity Day event.
“Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s dream was “Ek Bharat Akhand Bharat” (undivided India). He was the founder of a united and undivided India. Celebrated every year on 31 October, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas marks the birth anniversary of the “Iron Man of India,” Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel , a symbol of the country’s sovereignty and unity.” , Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said at the celebration of State level Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day). In 2018, the Central Government erected the Statue of Unity in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Gujarat which is the tallest statue in the world. The Agriculture Minister also added that the Central Government started observing this day from 2014 to present his ideals, thoughts and philosophy to the present generation.
Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath flagged off ‘Run for Unity’ on this day. The Power, Agriculture Minister, cabinet ministers, players, students, officials and dignitaries were participated in the ‘Run for Unity’. The rally has started from the Swami Vivekananda Ground and ended at Umakanta Academy.
Hon’ble Industries and commerce minister Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Youth Affairs & Sports, Social Welfare & Social Education, Minister Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Deputy Speaker Ram Prasad Pal, Indian Gymnast Arjuna Awardee Dipa Karmakar, other officials and dignitaries were present at the event.
