State Level Seminar on 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.

Agartala, Tripura, 29th of April, 2025 : With the jointly initiative of West Tripura District Administration and the Scheduled Castes Welfare Department  State Level Seminar on 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar was organized at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Sunday (28th April, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing the State Level Seminar on 135th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that B. R. Ambedkar played a significant role in the economic development of the country and the creation of an exploitation-free society. His thoughts are embedded in every chapter and sub-article of the Indian Constitution. The Chief Minister said this at the conclusion of the week-long programme to celebrate the 135th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar the architect of the Constitution in Agartala today.

“Dr. BR Ambedkar was a philosopher, economist, social reformer and freedom fighter. B.R Ambedkar is one of the people who worked in the formulation of the constitution of the country. BR Ambedkar played a significant role in the drafting of the Constitution of India. Apart from this, he also showed prudence as the first Union Law Minister from 1947 to 1951. He fought an unequal battle against various evils throughout his life. He struggled throughout his life to successfully realize the hopes and aspirations of the Dalit community of India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking various programs with great importance to establish in the society every aspect of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s social, economic, state development, progress of the Dalit community, development of rural India, empowerment of women and establishment of rights.”, Chief Minister added.

“The current central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is implementing the dream of equality of Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Every scheme of the government is being implemented for the development of the weaker sections of the society and for the eradication of poverty. Through the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana , which was started in 2014, the poor have been connected to banking services. As a result, it is now possible to transfer government grants directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.”  Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister also added that the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana  scheme has been brought to make poor citizens self-reliant. This scheme is for the socio-economic development of SC, ST and women entrepreneurs. Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh per year is ensured to poor families. In addition, assistance will be provided for construction of student hostels, pre-secondary scholarships (state scheme), B. R. Ambedkar Merit Award (central scheme), one-time financial assistance (state scheme), assistance in Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme, special training for residential students belonging to Scheduled Castes (state scheme), Pradhan Mantri Anusuchit Jaati Abhyuday Yojana (PM-AJAY) (central scheme).

West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar delivered the welcome speech at the event.  Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Hon’ble MP and Tripura Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajib Bhattacharjee and many others remained present in the event.The function was presided over by the Acting President of West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, At the end of the function, the winners of the essay competition organized on the occasion of the birth anniversary of B. R. Ambedkar were awarded. The Chief Minister handed over a memento, certificate and cheque as prizes to them.
