Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of February, 2026 : The Traffic Department in Dharmanagar conducted a special enforcement drive against illegal parking and helmetless motorcycle riders in the town. The operation was carried out on Friday evening across several key locations in the city. Violators of traffic rules were identified and fined on the spot.According to traffic sources, special surveillance was conducted at Kalidighi Par, Babur Bazar, the Dharmanagar Police Station premises, and the Rajbari junction. Complaints regarding traffic congestion, illegal parking, and road safety issues had been mounting in these areas for quite some time, prompting Friday’s action.

During the drive, officials checked essential vehicle documents, including Registration Certificates, Driving Licenses, Insurance papers, and Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates. Strict action was taken particularly against motorcycle riders not wearing helmets. Fines were imposed under the Motor Vehicles Act. Several drivers were also penalized for illegally parking their vehicles at crucial road points.Traffic Department ASI Atika Ranjan Das stated, “Ensuring road safety and reducing traffic congestion in the town are our primary objectives. Strict measures will continue against those who violate traffic rules.” He further added that such special drives will be conducted regularly in the coming days.A section of local residents welcomed the initiative, stating that regular monitoring would help maintain traffic discipline and reduce the risk of accidents. Concerned citizens believe that the proactive role of the Traffic Department will play an important part in restoring order to vehicular movement in the town.
