Surya Tarun Sangha Begins 46 Year Durga Puja Preparation With Customary ‘Khutti Puja’

Khowai, Tripura, 14th of September, 2026 : 46 Years of Tradition Continues as Surya Tarun Sangha marks the beginning of Durga Puja with Khuti Puja today (14th September, 2026). As localities begin to come alive with the beats of dhaks and a growing festive atmosphere, Surya Tarun Sangha has taken another step forward in its preparations for the grand Durga Puja celebrations.

With a 46-year legacy of organising Sharadiya Durga Puja, Surya Tarun Sangha is once again gearing up for the festive season. Upholding its long-standing tradition, the association has planned several programmes and arrangements for this year’s celebrations. The preparations officially commenced today with the auspicious Khuti Puja.

This year, Surya Tarun Sangha has allocated a budget of around ₹5 lakh for the Durga Puja celebrations. Along with the puja festivities, the association has planned a range of social and cultural programmes aimed at spreading the joy and spirit of the festival among people from all sections of society.

As part of the Durga Puja celebrations, various cultural programmes will be organised. A clothes distribution programme will also be held for those in need. In addition, information about various government welfare schemes and public services will be shared with the general public to help people become more aware of the benefits and facilities available to them.

However, this year’s Durga Puja will feature a special attraction. To draw the attention of visitors, the puja pandal will be designed in the form of a fictitious temple, with an eye-catching architectural style and elaborate decorations. President Debashish Deb, Secretary Chayan Acharya, Joint Secretary Alok Roy and Treasurer Pankaj Roy are leading the Puja committee, along with members such as Uttam Adhikari, Sripad Shil, Asit Roy and Tapan Das.
