Taj Pushpavanta Palace Hotel  : Tripura Government Signs MoU With The IHCL In The Presence Of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

Agartala, Tripura, 14th of March 2025 : The Government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Hotels Company Ltd. (IHCL) in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for development of Taj Pushpavanta Palace Hotel in Agartala, Tripura.

In today’s the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony apart from the Chief Minister, Hon’ble Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport and Tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home), OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, Secretary of the Department of Industries and Commerce Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Department of Finance Apurba Roy, Secretary of the Department of Tourism U.K. Chakma, Senior Vice President (Operations) of Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL),  K. Mohanachandran, Area Director and General Manager of Indian Hotel Company Limited Jayanta Das, officials and may other dignitaries were present in the events.

Interacting with the media Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said, the first MoU signed between the State Government and the Tata Group for the development of the state’s hotel and tourism industry. As a result of this MoU signing, Indian Hotel Company Limited will build a world-class hotel with all the amenities in the erstwhile Raj Bhavan, the state’s traditional Pushpavanta Palace.

“The present Government is working on various innovative plans to build a modern Tripura. Such initiatives are being taken to increase investment in the state, expand tourism, promote the state’s own culture and create direct and indirect employment. The Chief Minister also said that this hotel of the Tata Group has been named “Taj Pushpavanta Palace”. The company will start construction of the hotel across the 7.78 acres of Pushpavanta Palace.” Chief Minister added.

“The main building of the traditional Pushpavanta Palace Palace will also be renovated and will be used mainly as a reception and public area. Four special rooms will be constructed in the main building in a royal style. As a result, tourists visiting the state will be able to experience the Manikya dynasty of Tripura and learn about the various initiatives and contributions of the Manikya dynasty to the development of the state at different times.” Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister also added that, 100 modern hotel rooms will be built outside the main building. The cost of this hotel will be around 250 crore. He said that due to the expansijton of the tourism industry, the arrival of tourists in the state will increase further in the future. Tourists from home and abroad will be able to know in detail about the culture and traditions of the tribal communities of the state and Tripura will gain a special recognition in the world. In addition, the construction of this hotel will create employment opportunities for more than 200 local people. The Chief Minister also directed the hotel authorities to complete the construction work of the hotel at the earliest.
