Teliamura, Tripura, 17th of November, 2025 : On specific information of Teliamura Police secret operation was launched in Trishabari Railway Station, Teliamura under Khowai District on Monday (17th November, 2025). According to the sources, Teliamura Police arrested two (2) drug peddlers from Trishabari Railway Station and seized a total of 17.900 Kg dry cannabis (Ganja). He wanted to take it to other state by train using Agartala railway station.
According to sources, the Teliamura Police were able to detain two arrested with cannabis while they were illegally transporting it from the Trishabari Railway Station premises. The amount of cannabis seized is 17.900 Kg, and its estimated black-market value is claimed to be over three lakh rupees. In this regard, the police have claimed that along with the recovery of the cannabis, two youths named Shyamal Debbarma and Santosh Debbarma have been detained. It has been learned that one of them is from the Radhapur Police Station area, while the other is from the Mandai area.
The police claim that a case has been registered against the arrested individuals under the NDPS Act, and legal action is being taken accordingly. Incidents of recovering cannabis and various other illegal intoxicants from the Trishabari Railway Station or its surrounding areas have become almost routine. The most significant aspect of this incident is that Santosh Debbarma, who was arrested with cannabis, is an active leader of the Motha party. On one hand, there is considerable evidence of Santosh’s closeness with Prodyut Kishore Deb Barma; on the other hand, reports suggest that Santosh has been nurtured under the patronage of Motha party MDC Ganesh Debbarma.
