Mumbai, Maharashtra, 16th of September, 2026 : The sweetness of songs from old Hindi cinema and their innocent portrayal of romance continue to hold a special place in the hearts of audiences. Bringing the magic of that bygone era into a contemporary cinematic setting is the upcoming film The Mushrooms with its new original Hindi retro song, “Kaisi Hai Ye Shaam Aaj Ki.”
Directed by Sreeja Barua Nalawade, the song features Anushka Kaushik and Abhijeet Nalawade together for the first time. Abhijeet, who has established a presence in theatre, Marathi cinema and web series, brings a fresh on-screen chemistry to the song. Tarannum Malik Jain lends her melodious voice to the track, while composer Paresh Shah recreates the distinctive feel of 1980s Bollywood through his music.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, director Sreeja Barua Nalawade says, “I have always been drawn to the honesty and simplicity of old Hindi cinema. Through ‘Kaisi Hai Ye Shaam Aaj Ki,’ I wanted to bring that same feeling into the world of ‘The Mushrooms.’”
Blending vintage romance, glamour and nostalgia with a contemporary cinematic feel, the song brings back the charm of a bygone era in a fresh and modern style. The film is produced by Sreeja Barua Nalawade and Abhijeet Nalawade and presented by Lasaki Mediaworks.
