Agartala, Tripura, 13th of August, 2025 : The World Bank-supported Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries (DoF), has commenced a series of three-day thematic training-cum-workshops to strengthen fishery-based livelihoods across the state.

In North and Unakoti districts, the training was initiated under the leadership of the Nodal Officer (Fishery TRESP), the Fishery Specialist, and the Deputy Directors of Fisheries (DDF). The sessions aim to streamline fishery activities, allocate responsibilities, and accelerate implementation under the TRESP framework.

Simultaneously in West Tripura, the Department of Fisheries launched a similar training programme to strategise the implementation of fishery-based livelihood activities. The three-day event, involving staff from TRESP, DoF, and other stakeholders, focused on clarifying the roles and responsibilities of the Project Implementation Units (PIUs) and Project Management Unit (PMU), preparing Business Development Plans (BDP), setting and achieving targets, and promoting fish culture activities.

Participants included Superintendents of Fisheries, Fishery Officers, Fishery Inspectors (FI), Fishery Assistants (FA), and Technical Support Agencies (TSA). These parallel initiatives mark a coordinated effort by TRESP and the Fishery Department to boost livelihood opportunities through sustainable fishery practices in Tripura.
