Mungiakami, Tripura, 16th of August 2025 : On the occasion of Independence Day, TRESP officials launched three Farmer Field Schools (FFS) at North and South Maharanipur Village Committees under Mungiakami R.D. Block. The initiative brought together three Producer Groups — Jora PG and Larima PG from North Maharanipur, and Salswkang PG from South Maharanipur — who successfully conducted their first learning sessions on this special day.

The opening training focused on “Bottle Gourd Containerized Seedling Production”, offering participants a step-by-step, hands-on demonstration. More than 45 tribal women farmers actively took part, building skills and confidence in nursery management and timely transplanting to improve crop outcomes.
Each Farmer Field School will run for the full crop cycle — from planting to harvest — through five planned phases. Trainers will also extend on-call support, visiting farmers whenever needed for guidance and problem-solving.

The programme was led by Mr. Subrata Shib (State TRESP Agri.-Horti. Specialist) with support from Dr. Sibaprasad Majumder and Dr. Dhrubajyoti Pal (TSA Consultants), assisted by Mr. Rahul Das (TSA Field Expert) and BPMU staff Ms. Purba Deb (BPM) and Mr. Baptosh Debbarma (Cluster Coordinator – Agri.-Horti).
The enthusiastic participation of PG members made the training sessions lively, practical, and impactful, giving fresh momentum to sustainable agricultural practices under TRESP.
