Agartala, Tripura, 26th of July 2025 : The Agriculture Department of Tripura has adopted a mission-mode approach in implementing the World Bank-supported Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP). A significant momentum was generated last month when a state-level orientation programme was held at Dasarath Deb Memorial Auditorium, inspiring departmental officials to take ownership of the project. This catalytic event has led to an enthusiastic and wholehearted engagement of Agri-Horti staff across the state in TRESP implementation.

Continuing the momentum, a practical, hands-on training session was conducted on July 24, 2025, for members of the Hukbar and Risha Producer Groups (PGs) at two separate Farmer Field Schools (FFS) in Jampuijala Block. The training focused on scientific techniques for raising healthy seedlings, specifically through raised bed and protray methods. The session was led by TRESP PMU Agriculture Specialist Mr. Subrata Shib.

For many PG members, this was their first exposure to practical training using protrays—an experience they found highly beneficial. The training was conducted under the guidance of technical experts from TSA (Agri), including Dr. Dhrubajyoti Pal, Dr. Anjan Debnath, and Mr. Pulak Choudhury, who served as the primary resource persons.

Key figures present at the event included Team Lead Mr. Biseswar Talukder, Field Expert Mr. Pradyut Debbarma, and Programme Manager (PIU Agri-Horti) Mr. Akash Debbarma. The demonstration not only enhanced technical capacity but also encouraged the active participation of women farmers in the operational areas .

Under the leadership of Dr. P.B. Jamatia, the Agriculture Department is pressing ahead with result-oriented initiatives to ensure that TRESP contributes meaningfully to the economic growth of rural producer groups across Tripura.
