Agartala, Tripura, 10th of November, 2025 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) continues to make a strong impact on agricultural productivity and farmer empowerment across Tripura’s tribal regions. Significant progress in bottle gourd cultivation has been reported from multiple project sites, reflecting the success of scientific interventions and field-level capacity building.

In Khowai District, remarkable progress has been observed at Jora Producer Group (PG) under Mungiakami Block, where a bumper harvest of bottle gourd is expected. On 10th November 2025, a State-level team of consultants—Dr. Sibaprasad Majumder, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Pal, and Mr. Pulak Chowdhury from TSA (Agri)—visited the area to assess crop growth, review management practices, and guide the farmers. Field inspections were also conducted at Salswkang PG, Haping PG, and Larima PG under Mungiakami BPMU.

The team reviewed ongoing plant protection activities, identified key field challenges, and advised on improved crop management strategies. The visit was joined by the State Senior Consultant, District Manager (Agri-Horti), Cluster Coordinator (Agri-Horti), TSA team, and BLMT, who emphasized the importance of adopting scientific and sustainable farming methods for better productivity and income generation among tribal farmers.

Simultaneously, under Lefunga Block, a 1-day Pre-Cultivation and Refresher Training for the Rabi Season was held at the Block Conference Hall. The session focused on pre-cultivation steps, field planning, and the role of Krishi Sakhis in smooth Rabi implementation. The training was facilitated by Mr. Pradyut Debbarma (TSA Field Expert) and Ms. Shilpa Debbarma (CC Agri-Horti, BPMU Lefunga), ensuring hands-on guidance to field functionaries and community resource persons.

Meanwhile, in Pecharthal R.D. Block, the second harvesting of bottle gourd was successfully completed on 10th November 2025 at Laxmipur Two Vegetable PG (FFS-5). The event was attended by the Sector Officer, BLMT, CC (Agri-Horti), and Krishi Sakhi, marking another success story of TRESP’s focus on improved vegetable cultivation and producer group development.

These coordinated efforts under TRESP’s Agriculture and Horticulture component demonstrate the project’s growing impact on enhancing production, strengthening farmer capacity, and promoting inclusive economic growth in Tripura’s tribal belts.
