Agartala, Tripura, 23rd of September 2025 : A three-day Training on Scientific Fish Farming commenced today, 23rd September, at Pechartal R.D. Block under Kumarghat Subdivision in Machmara CLF. The programme, part of the World Bank–funded Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), was organized by DPMU North Tripura.

The event was graced by Shri Sajan Chakma, BAC Chairperson; Shri B.K. Chakma, Superintendent of Fisheries; Shri Apu Chakraborty, Social Worker; Shri B.C. Paul, Fishery Inspector; Smt. Songhita Paul, District Manager Fishery TRESP; and BPMU staff. The training was facilitated by Smt. Songhita Paul, District Manager Fishery TRESP, and Shri Bidesh Nashkar, TSA Project Executive, DPMU North.
On the first day, participants received practical exposure on scientific fish farming practices, pond management, and improved techniques for enhanced productivity. Farmers actively engaged, sharing their field experiences, making the session highly interactive and impactful.

The smooth operational progress of TRESP across eight districts of Tripura is being ensured under the visionary leadership of Dr. K. Sashi Kumar (IFS), Secretary, Tribal Welfare Department.
