Agartala, Tripura, 25th of October, 2025 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP)—implemented by the Tribal Welfare Department, Government of Tripura, with support from the World Bank—is steadily transforming agricultural livelihoods in tribal regions. This season, women farmers of the Yakhili Producer Group, under Khurumpui Village Council in Mandwi R.D. Block, are witnessing a significant rise in both productivity and confidence.

With timely technical guidance and on-field advisory from Mr. Hiralal Debbarma, Cluster Coordinator (Agriculture), TRESP, and continued support from TSA Experts, the group recorded a successful harvest of 78 kg Bitter Gourd on 25th October. Recently, the produce fetched ₹70/- per kg in the market, ensuring encouraging profits for the women farmers. As the crop allows for multiple pluckings, it is expected to generate steady income throughout the season.
TRESP’s Agriculture Vertical, currently being implemented across 23 tribal-concentrated Blocks, focuses on capacity building, scientific cultivation, improved market linkage, and income enhancement for rural households.

Sri Subrata Shib, Agriculture Specialist, TRESP, continues to oversee field-level implementation, providing strategic direction to strengthen Producer Groups and scale up productivity-oriented outcomes.
This achievement stands as a testament to how localized technical support and community-driven agricultural planning under TRESP are fostering economic empowerment and rural resilience among tribal women farmers.
