Damcherra, Tripura, 3rd of August, 2026 : Reaffirming the Government of Tripura’s commitment to strengthening sustainable livelihoods in tribal areas, the Secretary of the Tribal Welfare Department Dr. K.Sashi Kumar ,IFS visited Damcherra RD Block on Sunday to review the progress of activities being implemented under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP).
Accompanied by the Block Development Officer (BDO), Damcherra RD Block, the Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO), Dharmanagar, and TRESP officials, the Secretary began the visit with a comprehensive review meeting at the BDO Office. He assessed the progress of various livelihood interventions and emphasized timely implementation, effective coordination, and quality execution to maximize benefits for rural communities.

During the field visit, the Secretary visited the Vangsang Fishery Producer Group under West Damcherra Village Committee. He inspected the group’s records, observed the harvesting of fish fingerlings, and interacted with members. Appreciating their dedication and teamwork, he encouraged them to continue adopting scientific and sustainable fish farming practices to improve their income and livelihood.
The delegation also visited the Khasnam Agriculture Producer Group under Thumsarai Para Village Committee, where members are successfully cultivating ginger under TRESP support. The Secretary reviewed the progress of the cultivation, interacted with the farmers, and discussed opportunities to enhance productivity and strengthen market linkages. He appreciated the enthusiasm of the Producer Group members and encouraged them to expand their agricultural activities.

The visit provided an opportunity to witness the positive impact of TRESP interventions at the grassroots level. Beneficiaries shared their experiences and expressed confidence that continued technical support and institutional guidance would further improve their livelihoods.
The Secretary reiterated the Government’s commitment to empowering tribal communities through sustainable livelihood initiatives, improved infrastructure, and capacity building under TRESP. His visit inspired the Producer Groups and reinforced confidence among beneficiaries and implementing agencies in achieving the project’s development goals.
