Khowai, Tripura, 24th of July 2026 : Tripura began its campaign at the 10th International Sangam Mahotsav in Guwahati, Assam, on a triumphant note, delivering an outstanding performance on the festival’s opening day. Students from the Dance Department of the Sangeet Natak Akademy earned widespread acclaim by winning the prestigious “Best of the Best” title across multiple categories, bringing immense pride and honour to the state.
On 19 July, the opening day of the festival witnessed Semi-Classical Dance and Group Folk Dance competitions. Representing Tripura, the talented artistes delivered captivating performances, securing top honours in their respective categories and winning accolades from both the judges and the audience for their exceptional talent, discipline, and artistic excellence.
In the Senior Semi-Classical Dance category, Miss Janhabi Chakraborty and Miss Purnima Das jointly secured First Place. In the Junior Semi-Classical Dance category, Miss Kritika Banik won First Place, adding another proud achievement to Tripura’s outstanding performance at the festival.
In the Senior Group Folk Dance category, Tripura’s performers secured First Place with an exceptional performance. Their vibrant traditional costumes, graceful choreography, and rhythmic presentation captivated the audience, earning widespread appreciation and leaving a lasting impression on both the judges and spectators.
Congratulating Tripura’s outstanding achievement, Mr. Sujit Bhowmik, President of the All India Theatre Council, Tripura State, and Mr. Keshab Banik, Secretary of the Council, extended their heartfelt congratulations to the state’s talented artists for their remarkable success and for bringing pride to Tripura at the 10th International Sangam Mahotsav.
Mr. Shankar Dutta, Secretary of the Chinmoy Foundation, also extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the award-winning artists on their remarkable achievements.
