Tripura University Faculty of Arts commemorates Hindi Diwas.

Agartala, Tripura, 17th of September, 2025 : The Faculty of Arts, Tripura University in collaboration with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, Tripura Pradesh, organized a series of events to commemorate Hindi Diwas. Two programs were held on this occasion. The first, a Quiz Competition, was conducted on September 15, 2025. A total of 85 undergraduate and postgraduate students participated in the competition, which featured 45 questions covering Hindi literature, Indian culture, and knowledge traditions with a focus on the North-Eastern region. The participants securing the first, second, and third positions were duly felicitated.

On September 16, 2025, a Special Lecture and Award Distribution Ceremony was organized. During this event, four outstanding performers of the Quiz Competition—Ms. Bishakha Debbarma, Mr. Bishal Debbarma, Ms. Sunandita Chakma, and Ms. Sabitri Barman—were honoured with prizes and certificates of achievement.

The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Kali Charan Jha, Convener of the Bharatiya Bhasha Manch. He elaborated on the developmental journey and working methodology of the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, highlighting the organization’s long-standing efforts to integrate Indian values, autonomy, and ethical standards within the education system.

In her remarks, Professor Milan Rani Jamatia, Head of the Department, underscored the importance of adopting Hindi as the language of official correspondence. She emphasized that ensuring the use of Hindi in academic spaces would be a significant step toward strengthening its development.

As a distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Saurav Kumar, Branch Manager, State Bank of India, Tripura University Campus Branch, noted that despite the challenges faced by Hindi in the present era, the language has greater opportunities ahead. He affirmed that banking services are available in both Hindi and English, and expressed the organization’s appreciation when communications are received in Hindi.

Presiding over the function, Professor Vinod Kumar Mishra, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Tripura University, and State Convener of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, reflected on the present status of the Hindi language. He emphasized that along with Hindi, equal importance must be given to expressing one’s thoughts and emotions in all Indian languages. In his words, “If Hindi is our mother, then all other Indian languages are our aunts.”

The program concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Manoj Kumar Maurya, Convener, Shodh Prakalp, Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas. The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr. Pawan Singh, Dr. Alok Kumar Pandey, as well as a large gathering of research scholars and students, marking the event as a memorable academic celebration of Hindi Diwas at the University.
