Angul, Odisha, 26th of April 2026 : Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday attended the ‘Vitaran Mela’ organised by the Angul district police and described the initiative as a commendable step towards public service on Saturday (25th April, 2026).

Addressing the gathering, Pradhan said the programme facilitates the recovery and return of lost or stolen mobile phones and motorcycles to their rightful owners, bringing relief and happiness to citizens. He praised the police administration for its dedicated efforts in reconnecting people with their belongings.
He also highlighted the provision of special identity cards for senior citizens, calling it a reflection of the police force’s sensitivity and its commitment towards societal responsibility.

Referring to reforms in the legal system, Pradhan said the implementation of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita marks a significant shift from colonial-era laws towards a justice system rooted in Indian values. He noted that the new framework, introduced after several decades, has strengthened governance and made it more citizen-centric.
The Union Minister commended the Angul district police for going beyond crime control and setting an example through effective implementation of new laws along with social responsibility initiatives. He expressed confidence that such efforts would further strengthen public trust and enhance the sense of security among citizens.

Among those present at the event were Dhenkanal MP Rudra Narayan Pany, Angul MLA Pratap Chandra Pradhan, Chhendipada MLA Agasti Behera, and senior officials of the district police administration.
